The south coast of Iceland is known for its unique combination of mountains, waterfalls, black sand beaches, and glaciers. Here you find the Myrdalsjökull glacier which is one of the major ice-caps in Iceland, and it is the source of the beautiful Kötlujökull outlet glacier. The glacier is named after the powerful Icelandic volcano Katla, which is buried by the glacier. The massive quantity of ice has gently crept down the volcano mountain, forming the famed outlet glacier where we find this magnificent natural ice cave, Katla Ice Cave. It takes a thrilling Super Jeep trip to get to the delights of this amazing natural phenomenon. You'll understand why as soon as you walk in!

Once you've been picked up, the adventure begins with a journey towards the majestic glaciers. Before reaching our icy destination, we'll make a pit stop at a gas station, where you'll have the chance to grab some snacks or refreshing drinks.

Our expedition kicks off on the renowned Road 1, but soon, we'll veer off into what feels like an untouched wilderness. Along this path, you'll find yourself enveloped by breathtaking glaciers and towering mountains. The super jeep effortlessly conquers the rugged terrain, infusing every moment of the drive with excitement.

As we approach the foot of the Kötlujökull glacier, a surreal panorama unfolds before your eyes, as if you've stepped into another realm. Equipped with crampons and helmets, we'll embark on a short stroll towards the entrance of the ice cave. There may be a few ladders to ascend, but fear not – these steps pose no real challenge. Virtually anyone in reasonable physical condition can handle them, and what may seem adventurous initially turns out to be quite manageable.

As we draw nearer to the cave, a remarkable spectacle awaits. Layers of ice, displaying a medley of vivid colors and volcanic ash, create striking patterns within the glacier. Throughout the tour, your knowledgeable guide will regale you with tales of the glacier's history, the ice cave's secrets, and the surrounding terrain, imparting both education and excitement in equal measure.
